Shop Small logoJust how important is small business? Small and new businesses create two out of every three net new jobs in America. Over half (!) of all working Americans work for, or own, a small business.

So, when you shop small you’re building economic strength in the sector of the economy that has the will and muscle to get us moving. When you shop small AND local, you’re also strengthening the fabric of your own community, and helping to provide a livelihood for your neighbors.

In 2011, one hundred million people shopped small on Small Business Saturday. You could make it 100,000,001!

  • If you’re a business with stuff to sell, look to the Small Business Administration for resources on Small Business Saturday. And check this out: Twitter is offering as much as $1 million in free ad credits in total to 10,000 businesses to support Small Business Saturday this weekend.
  • If you’re a person with stuff to buy, check out www.shopsmall.com to see a map showing which small businesses in your part of the world are participating.
